College students can get Apple Music for half price - $5.99 instead of $10.99 per month. You get the exact same service as regular subscribers, just cheaper. The catch is you need to prove you’re actually a student once a year.

This deal exists in pretty much every country Apple Music operates in. They use services like UNiDAYS or SheerID to check if you go to a real college or university.

What You Get

Nothing changes from the regular plan except the price:

Pricing

The student plan costs $5.99/month in the US. Regular price is $10.99, so you save about $60 a year.

Other countries have similar pricing:

Who Can Get It

You need to be enrolled at an accredited college or university. That includes undergrad, grad school, and PhD programs.

The verification service needs to recognize your school. In the US that means Title IV accredited institutions. Other countries have their own standards but most legitimate universities work.

You also need:

• An Apple ID (free to make)
• To be 13 or older (some countries require 18)

International students studying abroad qualify as long as their school is recognized.

Signing Up

When you go to subscribe to Apple Music, pick the student option instead of individual. Apple will send you to UNiDAYS or SheerID to verify.

They’ll ask for your school name, student email, and birthdate. If your .edu email is in their database, you’re approved instantly. If not, you upload a document like your student ID or a transcript showing you’re enrolled this semester.

After that clears, you come back to Apple Music, confirm the $5.99 rate, add payment info, and you’re done. Takes maybe 5 minutes total unless you need to hunt down documents.

Staying Verified

Every 12 months you have to verify again that you’re still a student. Apple emails you when it’s time. Usually it’s just clicking a link and confirming, way easier than the first time.

You can do this for 4 years max. After that you’re done even if you’re somehow still in school.

Miss your verification deadline and your subscription just switches to the normal $10.99 rate. Your music library stays intact, you just pay more.

When you graduate, you keep the student rate until your next annual verification comes up. It doesn’t instantly jump to full price the day you get your diploma.

Regular individual plan: Same features, costs $10.99/month, no verification needed

Family plan: $16.99/month for up to 6 people. Better deal if you actually share it with family or roommates. Worse deal if you’re using it alone.

Apple One Student: Same $5.99 price but you also get Apple TV+, Apple Arcade, and 50GB cloud storage. If you’d use any of those, this is objectively better value than just Apple Music.

Things to Know

• 4 year maximum, no exceptions
• You verify once per year
• One student subscription per person
• Can’t share it through Family Sharing
• Cancel whenever you want, you keep access through the end of your paid month
• Renews automatically unless you cancel

After 4 years or when you can’t verify anymore, you automatically get moved to the $10.99 individual plan. Apple warns you before this happens so you can cancel if you don’t want to pay full price.
